Construction of 150 high-end rental apartments in Downtown Brooklyn began by converting 4 floors of an existing landmark building and combining it with new space from a 2-story, steel-framed addition at the rooftop. Entirely new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler services are being installed as well as 3 new elevators. The apartments have a loft life feature (15’ high ceilings) with high-end cabinetry and finishes as well as new landmarked approved windows. The presence of occupied commercial space on the lower floors requires complex logistical planning in order to remove the existing roof while the new addition was installed.
